His preferred name was David Majal Ii. He was born at Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas on 10 March 1944. His father’s family name was Chapple and his mother’s maiden name was Leana Beatrice Davis. David’s social security card, number 431-74-5282, was issued to Dewitt David Chapple in Arkansas in June 1957. David backed Philip Walker on 20 May 1970 for JOLIET #202. He was involved with “BABY LITTLE” and THE PLAYBOYS, who performed WATTS WAY #641 in about late 1971. WATTS WAY #641, side #WWR-9701-A, states ‘Horn Arr. By David Ii’, while side WWR-9701-3 states ‘Horn Arr. By David Lastie”. David Lastie is not the same as David Ii. David Ii was a member of Philip Walker’s band during June 1972, when he recorded behind Eddie Taylor for Advent LP #2802. He was living at Gardena, California in 1973. He recorded behind Philip Walker for Joliet in the early 1970s (reissued in about 1975 by Playboy). He backed Lonesome Sundown for Joliet LP #6002 in 1977, later reissued by Alligator, (British) Sonet and Hightone, with liner notes by Frank Scott. He recorded with D. J. Rogers (R C A VICTOR, 1977); The Parlets (Casablanca/ (Japanese) Polystar, 1980); and The S. O. S. Band (Tabu, 1981). In 1982 and 1983 he was a member of the Los Angeles Musicians Union, Local #47, and lived at Carson, California 90746. He was not a member of Local #47 as at 1986. By 1989 and through 1993 he was again a member of Local #47 and was living at Los Angeles, California 90044. David resided at Los Angeles, California 90044 when he died on 21 September 1995.
