Irick, mulatto, aged 10, who was enumerated for the 1910 Census in Dorchester Township, Dorchester County, South Carolina, a son of William and Florence Irick. He and his parents had been born in South Carolina. He was killed, reportedly aged 30, by gunshot at 3579 Fish Avenue, Bronx, on 7 February 1929, by a white common-law wife, Mary Snepps, who was acquitted of manslaughter. Mary was a hostess at the Orpheum dance hall, 47th and Broadway, New York. They had been living at the home of dancer Johnny Hudgins: Hudgins was born at Baltimore, Maryland on 5 May 1898, was residing at Manhattan by 1928, and was residing at Coram, Suffolk County, New York when he died on 5 May 1990.
