(clarinet, saxes, composer; arranger) was born Edward Frederick Inge at Kansas City, Missouri on 7 May 1906. He studied at St. Louis, Missouri and at Madison, Wisconsin. In 1924 he joined George Reynolds’s Orchestra, then worked successively with Dewey Jackson, Willie Austin (1925), Art Sims, Oscar ‘Bernie’ Young (1926), McKinney’s Cotton Pickers (1929 – 1931), Don Redman (1931 – 1939), Andy Kirk (1940 – 1943). He led a band at Cleveland, Ohio in 1945. He settled at Buffalo, Erie County, New York and led his own band in local clubs during the 1950s. He worked at Buffalo with Cecil Johnson in the 1960s , and with C. Q. Price in 1971. He was residing at Buffalo, New York 14208 when he died in October 1988. He was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
