(bass guitar; harp; also guitar) is the stage name of Thomas J. “Tom” Morris, a white musician who was born at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on 24 December 1958, apparently a son of John W. and Lillian W. Morris. Tom recorded behind Big Smokey Smothers for Red Beans LP #009 at sessions held at WBEZ Studios, Chicago, Illinois, on 12 December 1980 and on 12 April 1984. He mainly recorded on guitar, with no recordings made by him playing harp between 1981 and 2020. Tom worked with Arthur ‘Railhead’ Saunders in the early 1980s. Tom worked with Taildragger at Vern’s Friendly Lounge, Pulaski and Roosevelt, Chicago in 1988, alongside Willie Kent and Timmy Taylor. Tom was still active at Chicago, Illinois as of 2021. His day job from 1987 was as a letterpress pressman at Mobile Print, Inc., until it closed on 4 February 2021. He resided at Arlington Heights, Cook County, Illinois, in 2021. His 2020 recording behind Brenda Taylor was his first recording playing harp since 1981. He no longer played guitar as of 2021 but continued on harp and bass guitar.
